Many are quite mediocre in my opinion. Surely, if they weren't,
Windows would've been long dead and Linux would've reigned the
entire PC industry ages ago.

(Did you perhaps miss the part where I said I've used Linux for over
~15 or so years? I know what you can do with it...)

Debian? It's broken as hell! (Unless you prefer to run ancient
versions from the 'stable' release, which at least is... well,
stable, somewhat.)

We were talking about the desktop, weren't we...? But, I rest
