I'm sure you will agree with me JF that when big companies make policy 
announcements, most information can be found between the lines. So when 
HP announced that all kind of nice things are being ported from HP-UX to 
Linux and Windows, and at the same time it became very clear that the 
Itanium was dead, that was the moment that HP implicitly admitted HP-UX 
was dead too. Or have you read anything about porting HP-UX to x86?  I 
haven't. HP will concentrate on building x86 servers, from small to very 
big, and most likely ARM servers as well. And they are good at that, 
they will be able to build superdome-like x86 servers. They will sell 
them with Windows and Linux. It may be some time before the official 
announcement, but HP-UX is on borrowed time.
