from a change management point of view, getting source that includes
changes that were never released and may or may not have been tested or
documented is dangerous.

Hence why I wonder if they got the 8.4 without those fixes and then
manually applied each fix after checking it, or whether the kit they got
already included many changes that were or weren't documented.
