A number of Rdb specific features, as in the optimizer, has been
moved over to classic Oracle. I guess the patents held by DEC
around Rdb was included in the deal.
Besides of that there was a lot of talkes around streamlining
the interfaces like the Oracle functions that can be loaded
into Rdb, OCI and the Rdb support in Oracle Developer.

Replace with what? Oracle "classic". Not particular close, I'd say.

Problem is that that hypothetical product might end up enough different
from the classical Oracle data on other platforms so it would be a
separate/different product anyway.
