Makes sense.  I see now that typing BOOT displays the stored flags.

Speaking of batteries, I notice that the system I just upgraded is now 
prompting me for the system time.  I know the battery needs replacing (I 
have a spare waiting to go in), but shouldn't it prompt me only after a 
loss of power?  It is prompting now whether I boot by hand or do an 
automatic reboot.

It seems the startup with 8.4 is faster.  Is that really the case?

Nice touch: At the end of shutdown, information about votes and quorum 
and how they were changed due to the shutdown is printed out.

I haven't looked into SMTP at all.  I think I need to do some 
configuration there.  Basic TCPIP works.  The upgrade was pretty 
painless.
