I'm not 100% sure what you are trying, but as have been mentioned, the
USB on the rx2660 box cannot be used as a console.

I have a rx2660 system where its COM1 port is connected to a
Lantronix ETS8PS (8 port standard terminal server) using a plain
serial cable. I then simply connect from whatever system (a Windows
PC using PyTTY in my case) to the Lantronix port and run the
rx2660 console.

No problem, the semi-graphic IA64 console displayed just fine...

I use the same setup for the console of my DS25 on the same
Lantronix terminal server...
