100% agree ..
VSI needs to focus on the core functions while working with
partners / ISV's / Dev community to develop / support other value
add components. That's the model other platform providers use and
VSI is no different. Same applies to things like graphics.
Hey, opportunity knocks for someone or some company to take on
MariaDB support via paid support contracts ...
Specifically to MariaDB, while it has some industry acceptance,
the issue I have with it is similar to some open source offerings
i.e. no native OpenVMS cluster support. Ok, perhaps someone can
correct me here, but I believe there is some limited shared
nothing MariaDB cluster offerings on Linux only.
I would like to see more emphasis on not just getting Open Source
offerings working on OpenVMS, but also supporting native (shared
disk) clustering e.g. like the Apache Web Server port (supports
active-active native clustering).
