The challenge with SAP (and often why SAP initiatives fail) is that SAP
assumes in the big picture that you will adopt your business processes to
the way SAP does them and not vice versa.

In addition, there are many optional modules in SAP which typically require
in depth knowledge of each one if you choose to use a specific module.
Unfortunately, each of these often requires a specialist with rates running
USD $200-$300/hr. When you end up having a team of these consultants at
rates like this, it is easy to see why SAP customizations often run into
many $M's to get up and running - not to mention the internal and external
Cust pain of changing your business processes to match the SAP model(s).

Great for SAP though.
