Since it is likely the controller that is the constraint suspect the same no-mix constraints apply in the OpenVMS world too.

I have a spare legacy X86 server box setup just to run SMARTCTL against various
interface drives
*SATA
*Parallel SCSI
*SAS

Handy for evaluting incl hours and erasing.

I'll have a look at TLER support on my favourite SATA (EVO 8x0 2.5") and an exemplar magnetic 2.5" drive.

If I get a result I'll post it here
