As Bill suggested, NFS is one possibility. The VMS implementation can
store small header files along with the data to preserve RMS attributes.

Your backup is missing a /VERIFY qualifier. :-)

I don't see a username and password there. Are you using DECnet proxies ?

How do you restore your system disk backup if you don't have a local
backup device on the machine in question ?
