Potentially, not certainly. The BS2000 OS runs on S/390-style hardware,
and is descended from early MVS, but doesn't seem to be compatible with
any of IBM's current OSes. 

IBM seem unlikely to take over maintaining BS2000, since its customer
base is fairly small. Customers transitioning to IBM would have to port
their applications to IBM operating systems, compilers and middleware.
The question is if this will be significantly easier than porting to
another OS family entirely.
