FYI, A friend wrote me

The July 2006 issue of the National Geographic has an article called
"Dancing Across America." It opens with a double page spread, and
there's a picture of modern square dancing at the upper right. It
shows "traditional" petticoats and skirts as just one of many ways
people dress to dance. There are many kinds of dancing in the article,
and many have more print space than square dancing, but the fact that
square dancing is very obvious on the front page of the article and
treated as simply one of many ways that people in America dance, in my
mind, makes a very positive impression.
