In the late 1990s I took a cooking class with Nick Malgieri on Chocolate desserts. The hit of the class was his "Supernatural Brownies" from his, then new, "Chocolate" cookbook. Once I started making those brownies and bringing them to different pot-luck dinners, people started to request them. The only addition I made to the original recipe was to add 3 tablespoons of instant espresso powder. You can download the recipe.
